Lecture Description
An overview of some research developments concerning the Great Ordovician Biodiversification Event (GOBE) will be given. Current understanding of Ordovician ‘climate’ variability as deduced from the carbonate rock and conodont oxygen isotope records will be discussed. Changing perceptions of Ordovician glaciation and ocean circulation will be presented, as will some aspects of Ordovician trilobite autecology and carbonate diagenesis.
